At Sir William Stanier School, we are committed to ensuring that every student feels known, supported and valued throughout their time with us.
Our pastoral team provides a dedicated network of support for students, helping them to feel safe, develop positive relationships, overcome challenges and make the most of school life.
Pastoral support is organised by year group, allowing our teams to understand the needs of students at each stage of their school journey and to build strong relationships with students and their families.

Mental Health & Wellbeing
At Sir William Stanier School, we take mental health and emotional wellbeing as seriously as physical health. We want students to feel able to ask for help when they need it and to know that support is available.
Our pastoral team can help students who are experiencing difficulties with their emotional wellbeing. We will listen, help students understand what support may be helpful and work with them to overcome challenges. Depending on individual needs, support may include one-to-one counselling, small-group work or peer support.
Students can speak to Miss Bloor about concerns relating to their own mental health and emotional wellbeing, or if they are worried about another student.
Conversations will be treated sensitively. Where there is a concern that a student or someone else may be at risk of harm, information may need to be shared with appropriate people to help keep them safe.
Support for Parents & Carers
We recognise that supporting a young person who is experiencing emotional or mental health difficulties can be challenging. We aim to work closely with families so that students receive consistent and appropriate support.
SWS can provide parent and carer support sessions, offering advice and guidance to families supporting a young person with their emotional wellbeing or mental health. Sessions are led by our qualified school counsellor and may take place at lunchtime or after school.
If you have concerns about your child's mental health or emotional wellbeing, or would like to find out more about the support available, please contact:
