At the heart of our rewards system is the belief that students achieve better with a relentless focus on positivity. We want students to know that when they do something well it is acknowledged and valued. We use the word ‘proud’ in our conversations with students.
We want students to feel proud in three specific ways:
Proud of themselves as individuals, the way they conduct themselves and the opportunities they take part in.
Proud of their efforts, courage and accomplishments inside and outside the classroom
Proud of being part of Sir William Stanier, a community of learners working together towards common goals
This idea of wanting to acknowledge and value what students do is the starting point for our latest initiative, which we are calling Proud. Each week Sir William Stanier staff will be nominating a student that they are proud of because of something the student has done or achieved. We will share all of the nominations with our wider school community.
