Colour

Colour theory is taught to Year 7 students, looking at blending, shading, and introduction to artists who uses colour within their work.

3D Form

Using cakes as a theme students will initially research and design ideas before moving on to create large scale sculptures using card and papier mâché. 

 

Line

Pupils will look line using the theme of typography and urban artist. Pupils will be encouraged to use letter forms and create their own Graffiti style letters. Moving onto to look at James Rizzi and urban cityscapes.

Cultural

Pupils will explore the African culture and patterns associated with this. Pupils will be introduced to designing and annotation, linking research to designs- then on to creating a final mask from card and mixed

 

Illustration (drawing)

Pupils will look at a range of illustration artists and aim to work with mixed medias to enhance their skills. They will be introduced to the exam criteria and work through building work for AO1 and A03. Pupils will then link their work and develop a final piece (A04) from Card and mixed media.

Observational drawing

Pupils will initially research a Pop artist who uses objects as his theme. Then pupils will   complete tasks relating to this artist. Pupils will develop observational drawing techniques; they will look at styles of drawings moving on to recapping on colour theory and compositional skills.


Pupils will be encouraged to work in a Pop Art style.

Year 10

Natural forms

Pupils will initially be introduced to a range of mixed media and work in the style of natural form artists. Tone will be a focus and skills-based techniques will be taught. Pupils will be taught using the criteria and spec language. (A01,A02)
Pupils will be looking at Techniques such as printing, Clay development and improvement of skills- building up evidence for A01 and A02
Pupils will then go onto design and create a sculpture based on their findings in previous work,
This will provide evidence for A03 and A04.

Pop Art

Pupils will initially look at the beginning of Pop art and why it became of popular, creating research on the famous Pop Artists. Pupils will then work in the Pop art style, creating lots of samples and experiments. This will provide evidence for A01 and A02 
Pupils will then go on to design their own final piece and then on to create their final piece. This will provide evidence for A03 and A04
All work created will go towards pupils 60 % of their grade

Year 11

Portraiture

Numeracy will be a heavy focus, scaling and enlarging areas of faces. 3 different portrait artists and styles will be looked at, pupils will produce a large-scale portrait.
Pupils will be given a brief and will be expected to produce samples, ideas and annotations before moving on to a final piece.
This is a major project that leads into the externally set exam

Exam paper given out

This will be broken up into sections and pupils will be expected to follow a timeline of activities. Pupils will be working on AO1 and 2 initially- all pupils will be working on personal projects.

Final exam

Pupils will have planned their final piece (AO3) Pupils will then sit their final exam using the skills, knowledge and understanding they have picked up over the last two yrs.
